Former Pinoy Dream Academy season 1 scholar Davey Langit recently signed a contract with Star Music and is set to release his very first solo album soon.

During the contract signing, Davey said that his album will contain 13 all-original tracks which he composed during the different phases of his life’s journey. “Some songs were written as early as 2007, the others were written this year,” he said, adding that his musician-friends also collaborated for this album. “It’s basically all my stories and all the stories I’ve come across with sa buhay ko.” Davey added.

One can recognize the similarity between his singing voice and that of singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid’s. This was something that Davey did not deny. “Maraming nagsasabi. Sabi nga nila kamukha ko rin siya, eh,” he lightheartedly told PUSH. Davey also said that he definitely idolizes the Tawag ng Tanghalan judge. “Sobrang grateful ako kay Sir Ogie and the rest of A-Team kasi they were the ones who really took a gamble sa akin. I mean I’m just a kid who plays guitar and writes songs so for them to invest in me and believe in what I can do, that’s more than anything.” Davey first signed with Ogie’s talent management A-Team.

Ogie, who was beside him, also expressed how happy he is for Davey who is finally fulfilling his dreams.

Talking about his own music, Davey said that as an artist, he does not want to be limited into a certain genre. “Hindi ko kasi kinakahon ang sarili ko sa isang genre. Kung ano ‘yung nararamdaman kong nararapat para makwento ko ‘yung isang kanta regardless kung pop na pop ba ‘yan, kung medyo rock ba ‘yung magiging atake. Kasi lahat ng klase ng kwento, may appropriate na way ng pag-interpret sa kanila. Siguro isa akong genre-buster,” the singer-songwriter said.

As for his future plans, Davey said that he is always grateful for whatever opportunity that may come his way. “’Pag may dumating na gusto nilang gamitin for a movie or teleserye, or a collaboration with any artist, very open ako diyan. Again, wala kasi akong genre. Pwede mo akong i-ano sa rapper, sa singer,” he said.

Aside from his upcoming album, Davey will have a concert on June 15 and 16 at the Maybank Theater in Bonifacio Global City. It’s called Perfect Blend with Laura Maigue and Basti Artadi.

Davey has been writing songs in the past, even writing Yeng Constantino’s hits “Time In” and “Cool Off.”
